Temporary Main Branch Closure

Nelson County Public Library to Close Temporarily Due to Water Damage

Barstown, Kentucky — 07/24/2024 — On Thursday, July 4th, the Nelson County Public Library suffered significant water damage after a burst pipe flooded several critical areas of the library.

Our primary concern is the safety and well-being of our patrons and staff, and restoring services back to the community as soon as possible. As such, we are taking immediate steps to address the situation. We are actively working with contractors and restoration experts to assess the full extent of the damage and to develop a timeline for repairs.

 Library Services During Closure

While our physical location is closed, we remain committed to serving our community. During this closure, the following services will be available:

  • Online Resources: Our digital library, including e-books, audiobooks, movies, music and online databases, will remain accessible 24/7 at ncplky.org
  • Off Site Programs: We will continue to offer some programs, at alternate locations. Check website for more info.
  • Book Returns and Holds: All patrons are encouraged to utilize the curbside service, located near the rear of the building to check out books, fax, copy print etc.
  • Alternative Locations: The New Haven and Bloomfield Branches will remain open at this time with access to wifi and computers.

We understand the inconvenience this closure may cause and appreciate your understanding and patience as we work to restore our facilities. The Nelson County Public Library has always been a cornerstone of our community, and we are committed to reopening as soon as possible.
