You’ve likely heard of the famous eruption of Mount Vesuvius nearly 2000 years ago, but have you heard of the Herculaneum Scrolls? As part of our Unearth A Story themed Summer Reading Program, join us this June for an informative talk with the University of Kentucky’s Dr. Brent Seales. Learn not only about the Herculaneum papyrus scrolls, buried and carbonized by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 CE and then excavated in the 18th century, but how, with the recent phenomena of big data and machine learning, these documents could be virtually unwrapped and read for the first time in 2000 years. We'll meet on Monday, June 8, at 5:00 pm, in NCPL Main Branch Community Room #1. Open to ages 18 and up.
